Love to Learn - Learn to Love

11th January

Welcome back to Seedlings everyone, I hope you all had a nice weekend? You will see below the range of tasks for today’s home learning. There is a link to a mental maths warm up game, and a task for each year group. There will be an opportunity to practice times tables through the week, this is mainly for Year 2, but if any Year 1 children want to join in they are more than welcome. Our reading task today will look more in depth at The Dragon Machine book. As it is Monday there is also an R.E session planned, as well as a short topic based lesson, looking at e-safety. You will see I have added the spellings to the page, these are to be tested on Friday. Have a lovely day, and I look forward to seeing you on the zoom register!

In maths today I would like you to start by playing the Daily 10 mental maths challenge.

Year 1 children can look in level 1, addition section at Bonds to 10. Year 2 children can look at level 2 in the multiplication section at 10x tables. You can choose your own timers.

Our reading task today is about a book called The Dragon Machine. This book can be read with the sound off if you wish, or if you find it tricky, particularly Year 1 children, you can have the story read to you.  There will be a task linked to vocabulary for each year group.

Learning objective Y1- To locate certain vocabulary and increase our own vocabulary.

Learning objective Y2 – To write our interpretation of words, and then check the actual meaning.

Today our topic work looks at e-safety and you will see there is a superhero character in the video clip too!

Keeping safe online is really important, at the end of the lesson is a short fun quiz too!

Click on your spelling group, and then on Friday you can be tested at home.
