Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well?
Below you will find the work and activities for the day. After the zoom meeting, we will have the Friday tutor group session, which is with the second group of Year 1 children. I have found it useful to have these smaller catch up meetings after the main registration session. For GPS today, can you complete the spelling test, and send your results to me please. You will see that as it is Friday, there is also a P.S.H.E lesson.
Have a fun day everyone!
Maths
Maths warm up – Today I have set a task in Splash Learn site to do as a maths warm up. You can also look at the links on the home learning page if you want to try something else.

Year 2 Learning objective – To interpret data from a pictogram
Year 2 children are going to be continuing their work on data handling, and this maths topic will continue next week too. Today we will be looking at pictograms. Watch the clip below, and then have a look at the worksheet that links with it.
Year 2 Spring Week 5 - Statistics | White Rose Maths Watch interpret pictograms.
Times tables
Have a go at the times tables you have been learning. This is optional for Year 1 children. It is helpful if you don't do them in order, so for example, instead of;
1 x 2 =
2 x 2 =
3 x 2 =
Try and mix them up a bit like this, as we would in class;
4 x 2 =
6 x 2 =
10 x 2 =
Good luck!
Reading
Learning objective – To draw upon the vocabulary in a poem to understand it better.
Today for our reading task, we are going to be looking at some Minibeast poems, and thinking about the vocabulary used in them. Watch the zoom clip or you can read the poems yourself if you would prefer, by following this link; Minibeast Poems (oxfordowl.co.uk) Then see if you can answer the vocabulary based questions about some of the poems.
Topic
Learning objective – To create a superhero craft item or model using everyday objects.
Today's topic lesson is a D.T/Art task, which hopefully you will find fun! Using materials you can find around the house, your challenge is to make something linked with superheroes. It may be a model or a mask, you get to decide. Watch the power point video below for some ideas, or you may have some great ideas of your own. I hope you have lots of fun!
If you do need any resources I have put a few in a box near the front door of the school, so if you do need anything feel free to pop by and see if there is anything you need.
GPS
It is our usual GPS session for Friday, which is to complete your spelling test, if you have not already done so. Remember to send me in your results and good luck everyone!
Phonics
Learning objective – To look at the long vowel ‘i’ sound linking with our spellings for next week.
Have a look at the sheet below. Can you identify the long vowel 'i' words? Once you have finished, you can have a look at the fun games below.
If you like, have a look at these games. Year 1, you need to read some sentences, then answer yes or no, to help the penguins cross the bridge.
Y1 game Yes/No Yeti (Phase 3) - Online Phonics Game (phonicsbloom.com)
Year 2, your game links with suffixes, when you add extra letters to the end of words to change them.

P.S.H.E
Learning objective – To think about relationships and what is special to us.
Have a look at the image in the document below, then see if you can answer the questions about it with a grown up. If you like you can write or type your thoughts. But do feel free just to have a chat about your ideas.
