Love to Learn - Learn to Love

8th January

Good morning everybody!

I have been so impressed with how hard everyone has been working this week, and want to thank you all for your support.

Today in maths there are games for a warm up activity. Year 1 will continue working on a mixture of addition and subtraction, and Year 2 will be looking at multiplication sentences using pictures.

Our reading work is looking at a cover of a book, and is linked to inference, what we think you know about the book, and predictions, what you think will happen in the book.

Our topic lesson is looking at some comic strips and thinking about some of the onomatopoeic words used, like Boom! Crash! Thud! Zoom! Pow! Bang! Bam! Ping! and so on.

There is also a fun superhero dance you might enjoy!

Phonics will be a recap of the sounds we have looked at this week, choosing the correct spelling pattern to match the picture.

From next week our Monday phonics/grammar, punctuation and spelling session, will be learning the spellings to be tested on Friday.  Can I politely request the children try the spellings independently, and their results emailed in to me at some point in the day.  We will also begin times tables tests for Year 2 children, starting with the 10 x table, which can also be tested on Friday. There will be links to games and activities provided to help the children with this.

Once again, thank you all for all your support during this very challenging time. I hope you all have a great weekend!

For a quick maths warm up, have a look at these games. You will remember them as we have used them in class before. Have fun!
