Topic Lesson

Learning objective: plan your own sweet food recipe

This week for topic we are focusing on sweet food recipes! Today, we will explore the features of recipes (text and language) first and then your task will be to  plan your very own sweet food recipe. Please first of all go through the video/PowerPoint below which explains the features of recipes and today's task in more detail. Once you have done, there is a further explanation of the task for this lesson underneath the video/PowerPoint.

Task

Today's topic task involves three steps. Please work through all of the three steps below.

Step 1-research different sweet food recipes

Step 2-write down some notes of the features used in recipes such as the text features like a subheading for ‘equipment’ and the  language features (nouns, imperative verbs, adverbs for time, adverbial phrases)

Step 3- plan a recipe for a sweet food you would like to make (for example, a chocolate cake, Victoria sponge, cookies).

When you are creating your plan, you need to include:

the equipment you may use
what ingredients are needed
Some bullet points of instructions  (for example, 1.  mix butter, 2. whisk egg).

Remember, this is just a plan, so you only need to make some brief notes.
