Monday 8th February

Good Morning Saplings!

I hope you enjoy the home learning activities today. This is our last week of term 3 and each one of you are doing really well. Keep going everyone!

Plan for today’s home learning:

Maths lesson

Today we are going to be subtracting fractions with the same denominator rather than adding them. Please first go through the PowerPoint below. Both year 3 and 4 have a separate PowerPoint. Once you have done this, now  complete the worksheet which is also below on this page and there is a separate one for both year groups . Please don't worry about printing the worksheet, you can write your answers on a piece of paper.

RE Lesson

Learning objective: How do Christians today try to create a world that Jesus would want?

For today’s RE Lesson, we are exploring how one Christian is helping to create a world that Jesus would want. First open up the worksheet below and have a look at the ‘church notice board' to see how this church is supporting their community.  Then complete the tasks set underneath the 'church notice board' on the worksheet. Please do not worry about printing the worksheet, just write your answers out on a piece of paper.

Topic Lesson

Learning objective: to write a short message back to Mr Smith on a piece of paper based on his email request

Throughout this week, you are going to gather information for Mr Smith who needs some help planning his holiday to the USA. By the end of the week, you will use all the information you have collated and put this in to a word document for Mr Smith to use! The purpose of this task is to consolidate the skills and knowledge the children have learnt across the topic this term.

Task

First read Mr Smith’s email request below.

Dear Sir/Madam,

My wife and I have two small children, who are six and eight years old. This summer, we are hoping to take a once in a lifetime trip to the United States and we would like your help.

We want to go for three weeks and we would like to visit a few different states and see some famous American landmarks.

I have a keen interest in Native American culture and would love to experience and learn more about this during my visit.

I hope that you will be able to create help us.

I look forward to receiving your proposal.

Yours faithfully,

Mr B Smith

Now, write a short message back to Mr Smith on a piece paper thanking him for his email and to let him know how you will deal with his request.
