Welcome to Seedlings Class (Years 1-2)

In Seedlings, we will continue to promote a Growth Mindset to develop positive attitudes towards learning and encourage the children to keep trying even when they find something challenging.

Please note our PE days this term are on Tuesday and Fridays. Please ensure your child wears their PE kit and brings a water bottle into school on those days.

We look forward to welcoming you into Seedlings Class!

Terms/Topic Information

Curriculum planning here at Sedley’s follows a thematic approach, with topics at the heart of each term of learning. We have a programme mapped out for the year in which we make meaningful links so that learning opportunities are maximised.  Teaching staff have developed the themes for our children to explore, ensuring coverage of the National Curriculum Programmes of Study.  These plans, however, are fluid and are developed, revised and changed according to the needs and interests of the children.

More Infomation about the subjects can be found on our curriculum pages.

Home Learning

Home Learning each term will be a selection of tasks linked to our Topic. Your child can choose to complete them in any order.  Once completed we will celebrate and share in class.  Home Learning is displayed around the school.

Times Table Rock Stars can be accessed at home, please keep logging in and have a go! Children have their login, in their contact books. Please include maths in your every day, helping the children understand they use maths everywhere.

Reading books and contact books are needed in school every day. Please read and enjoy story times together, this will support your child’s learning to read and write.  There are some phonics links below to support reading, please ensure your child practises regularly.  Learning to read supports their access to learning across the curriculum
